Week 6

Friday

[ Another week, another death... with last week's mistake still fresh in their minds, how will they fare this time around? Will the weight of it crush them or will they find themselves refined into sharp, clear diamonds? An answer is nigh-- because once more an eerie silence fills the hotel. That feeling that something's just not right may be familiar to them by now. They may sense it...

...that someone had decided that there is an injustice in the world worth killing for.

Although it may take them some time to deduce this-- they will find that the source of the ground and first floor levels of the hotel. It is not immediately obvious but some may get the sense that they are being watched. No doubt Sheepy will be watching them during their investigation and making sure things go by the books. ]

There was a blanket that was large and conspicuously missing from the gift shop.

[ Splotches of tears in a few places, smearing some of the ink. ]

- Obvious findings:

Master Sting's body was found on stage, crossed-legged and propped against a sword. Body was cold when found. Time was before 7 AM.

The sword seems to belong to the mechanical cultists we saw during Sir Dio's execution. Note: The cultists are found backstage. One has been tampered with.

Wounds:

There is a neck wound: a cut that extends to his chest. He seems to have been struck twice in the same spot. The cut is jagged near the collarbone, deep, but otherwise it is a clean cut.

There is no bruising. The width of the sword seems to match the gap of the wound. (This was not tested.)

Blood:

Found only on his neck, chest, right glove, and clothes. No blood around the body or trailing up to it.

The room was not in disarray, and there were no signs of a struggle.

I ate at six pm. At about half an hour past, I went to the gym and practiced until about nine pm. I then went to the gardens to pray for the souls of the deceased until ten pm, at which time I went to my room and slept.

I ate some dinner around seven, had a bath, then took an early rest around eight. I didn't wake up until the alarm went off.

She said just about the same thing when I asked her. She also told me the towel from the men's locker room matched with the scent of Sting's clothes when she sniffed them. Apparently she could also already tell from the start that the towel didn't belong to Rean, Mikami or Yuri. Pretty handy to have around, although I don't know how I'd feel about having her smell my stuff.

She also told me she got a stun camera.

Mitsuko received a camera from the staff, one of those that can stun people with a flash. It doesn't seem used but what do I know.

She's getting bored with the hotel. Could be important to remember! Boredom can be an incentive to kill for some people!

Oh, and the shower in her room hasn't been used at all

[What Top Dollar eventually submits to evidence is unsigned, but at the same time it's not anything that hasn't been seen before as evidence, either – he'd submitted his own alibi a few weeks ago, after all. That said, it's a mess? Seriously, he looks like he learned handwriting from Russian doctors and reverse-engineered it back into something pretending to be legible in English, I'm so sorry.]

Mikami said he checked the lower floors starting shortly after nine. He said goodnight to Aki, and then did his rounds - first floor to ground floor and then up to the second and beyond, because he's apparently a man full of rigid-ass habits. Said he didn't see anything weird there or anywhere else as he moved up through the place.

He said he was asleep by ten and stayed that way all night. Started doing checks again at something like 6:40am, quit after the sheep said her piece and went back to his room. (So I'm guessing that's something like, what, 20 minutes to a floor? I'm not going to sit here and do the math for you, that's not my job.) He knew he'd be a suspect because he got one of those items, it ended up being a camera because I guess somebody's got a sick sense of humor.

I asked him about his motive, he said it was private but answered anyway, so it wasn't like he was trying to hide it. I'm not here to play armchair analyst and figure out whether it was worth killing over or not, but I figured it was worth reporting that he didn't refuse or anything when asked about it.

[Submitted is an unopened bottle of chloroform. Yeager's handwriting is as neat as always, though the note is unsigned.]

Aside from this, there was nothing of interest in Yuri's room. A thorough search of his person provided nothing as well - no new injuries or signs of a fight.

I conversed with Yuri at 9 PM on Thursday night, but after that he informed me that he went straight back to his room, checked his bandages, before retiring to bed.

He claims he did not act on the motive because there was no one he believes at the time who deserved it.

Yuri has said that he would be unable to go up against someone like Sting, due to the risk of reopening his wound.

[ There's so much stuff this time, Sakura has taken to organizing it in bullet points. ]

• A drag mark in blood was near the entrance to the women's locker room. Other blood smears led to the racquetball court.

• The women's locker room itself is covered in blood, as though there was a struggle there. There was a large dent in floor, with broken tiles around it and a bit of blood itself.

• A red blanket was in the shower stall. It smells a little like blood, and was covering the drain. The shower itself was still running, and the water was a bit bloody.

• One of the lockers is dented. The metal was so warped it was difficult to open, but there was nothing inside. More blood in the cracks. There was a bloody handprint on one of the undamaged lockers.

The storage room door was blocked by a luggage cart. It was difficult to get inside, but I could squeeze in. A bloody handprint was on the cart. [ a photo of the print plus Sakura's own hand next to it for scale is pinned to this part of her testimony ]

The luggage cart was also covered in dried blood. It looks like a lot of it pooled and overflowed, but was later wiped away.

There were a couple of interesting things I found in the showers on the men's side. First off, there was a bloodstain on one of the walls of the stall. Looked like it was swiped by something small, like a finger, and it was pretty high above the ground. I want to say about 185 rege or so? Anyways, that stall was also a little damp, so it was probably used recently. There was also a long, black hair caught in the drain, and for some reason I picked it up. Don't even ask. I don't even know myself.

When I passed through the locker room on the way out I noticed a white towel stuffed in a locker, with the door still kind of open. According to Mitsuko's nose, the towel smelled like Sting's and it stank. Rean can confirm that second part with you too.

[Photographs of the blood swipe pattern have been submitted to evidence. For argument's sake we'll just say that he later took some pictures using the tried-and-true method of "tape up a bunch of fucking rulers onto the wall" to get a general measurement of the height of the stain and took a picture of that too since no one else around here seems to use the Zemurian measurement system here!! Therefore, anyone familiar with imperial units would recognize the stains are about 73 - 75" from the floor.

The towel itself and the hair have also been submitted. Also, because he's feeling extra helpful he's submitted a shitload of rulers from the gift shop. It's like the fucking cornucopia of rulers here, he's dumped in so many?? YOU'RE WELCOME GUYS]

Searched Mikami's room. Looks like his item was the stun camera. Aside from being freakishly neat and owning a bunch of corpse pics, there wasn't really much else there. He had a couple of notebooks around and had some notes and crap in them, like the fingerprint collection. I also filched some fingerprint powder he had. Saw an interesting blanket on his bed too.

Also, I got Mikami to strip. There weren't any recent injuries or anything, even under his hair. The only things he had his pockets were his room card and some empty bags.

I had a little chat with Rean about what he was doing last night. He was with me in the arcade up until 8:30 PM, although after that he says he went to the garden and stayed there until about 10:00 PM, working on his sword forms. Afterwards, he went back to his room.

I also found his bear trap.

[Submitted is a collection of short stories written by someone named Dorothee. It features some rather graphic scenes about romantic relationships between boys. The language is flowery and excessive, and said graphic scenes show a startling lack of awareness in regards to male anatomy and safe sexual practices. It's quite a page turner nonetheless.

The note accompanying the book is left unsigned, and it's written as a very messy scrawl that would make it difficult to compare with anyone else's handwriting in the hotel.]

Well, I can confirm that's indeed what I told him. Crow and I were hanging at the arcade up until 8:30 PM when we decided to split up. I stopped by the garden not too long after. I felt like getting some practice in with my tachi, so I trained over by the pond.

I guess I must have lost track of time while training too, because it was five minutes short of 10 PM that I realized it was getting late. After fixing up the garden a bit, I went back to my room.

There wasn't much to find in here that looked related to the case, although it looks like Merciless got some handcuffs to go with some rope. The shower was a little damp, like it'd been used about an hour ago. She really likes her dresses, though, damn.

[Submitted here is Mikami's notebook, which contains the known prints of Noé, Kevin, Top Dollar, Albert, Nepeta, Shelley, Merciless, Duke, Conchita, von Karma, and Mikami. In addition, 3 other sets of fingerprint cards have been added, labelled Rean, Mitsuko and Yuri. The prints on these sets look messier for sure, although they're still definitely usable for matching.

Also included is one more use of fingerprinting powder. Don't fuck up this time!?]

It looked like he took a lot of crap from around the hotel and decorated his space with it, but there wasn't anything that really stuck out as weird. Wait, scratch that, there actually there was something pretty weird, but I don't think it means anything. I also took some of his clothes for Mitsuko to sniff though, so if anyone notices that stuff was missing, that's why.

There wasn't a whole lot of things in his room that related to the current case. Boy keeps his room rather tidy and neat, and appears to have a collection of items he's gathered from the people here who have died; such as Conchita, Leo and Estelle. His item for the week is indeed a Bear Trap and looked completely unused.

Rean appeared to have no visible injuries on him as well so he appeared to be clean as far as this whole mess is concerned.
