Third Investigation
Week 3

Friday
[ Another week has come and gone-- albeit with a great deal of excitement. It wouldn't be strange if by the end of the week you had nearly forgotten the week's new motive altogether with everything that's been going on since the middle of the week. But even if you did, that didn't make it go away. It was still there. Waiting. For just one person to give it the proper consideration.
...had someone decided that one person's life was worth erasing to get rid of another?
It no longer seems so crazy, does it?
As another morning dawns, people will rise-- perhaps with every intention of going about their daily routines same as always. But somewhere, a surprise is waiting to be discovered. But what oh what will they find this time? Just maybe it won't be so bad. Or maybe it will. ]

Anyway, Duke moves along from there, straight on back into the room proper, before scoping out the thoroughly; if nothing's there he will begin to head over to the bed to look underneath it
no subject
...it's a ball of yarn. Two guesses who that belongs to, and the first one doesn't count. At the edge of the bed there are also a set of dishes with food and water, also belonging to Murr.
But it's okay. Murr's here to help. The fat cat prances it's way across the bed and not so gracefully jumps over onto the small table next to the bed-- knocking over the alarm clock in the process but it's fine. It's fluffy tail sways excitedly and after a short moment he meows loudly.
...I think he's saying check in here. Since the table has a little drawer. ]
no subject
Okay, no.
That aside, Duke is getting off of the floor so he can stand up once more. He'll then head over to the small table the cat drew attention to. He'll just give the cat a look of understanding before opening and checking in the table's little drawer. What does he find? ]
no subject
Not for that first guess, that was wrong.
But you've found something! A room key. It looks to be the same as the ones all of them were given. There's also a small pellet. A pose pellet to be precise. The type that was among the "presents" offered to potential suspects and murderers. ]

Then he'll look at the cat, and give a gentle expression, before offering his hand out for a petting. ]
You have been very helpful.
[ ... Of course he's not done here but the cat needs to be thanked for assisting!! ]
no subject
WITH THAT TAKEN CARE OF... Anything else you'd like to see? ]
no subject
Noe.
[ Beat. ]
...What is the cat's name?
no subject
But he's quite happy to see Murr getting along with Duke so well. There were times he could certainly be disagreeable. ]
Ah-- it's Murr.
[ Noe hadn't watched his investigation all that closely, but now he has a good reason to focus on the other man. ]
...he seems to have taken a liking to you.
no subject
[ Something good has to come out of this shitshow, after all. After looking at the cat, he finally directs his gaze upon the other white-haired male. It seems a little more curious, compared to his earlier look when he first walked in the room. ]
Murr is a good cat. I presume you must treat him well by the items you left for him.
no subject
Yes... He's been with me a long time. I'm very glad to have him here with me finally.
no subject
[ That is like the fourth person he has managed to cheer up without necessarily going for that route, but it is a good thing nonetheless. Or at least Duke believes so.
The male then steps forward to Noe, holding out the room key and the rose pellet to Noe. ]
...Can you hold onto these for a moment? I have not quite finished investigating your room.
no subject
[He takes the pose pellet and the room key-- Although he wonders for a moment why he's giving him his room key.
Huh. Must be something important he needs to investigate. He has to admit he's kinda curious what he's going to do next.]
no subject
Okay, Duke is just going to double-check a few things he's already gone over (and hasn't). First, he'll double-check both of the night-stand drawers, including inside of them and around them. He'll make sure to check if there's nothing in the ashtrays, either. If there's nothing fruitful there, he will go ahead to look behind the venetian blinds to see if something was hidden behind it. If nothing's there, Duke will go check behind the speakers.
Lastly, he'll actually go to look through the kitchen area itself. He'll look in the mini-fridge, vase, and yes... even the microwave. ]
no subject
no subject
Yeah. He can't think of anywhere else to look. ]
... I believe this has sufficed.
[ He'll walk over to Noe and then hold out his hand for the items. ]
You can hand back over your room key and the other item.
no subject
...my key?
[Putting both items from the drawer in one hand, he reaches into his back pocket and pulls out his own key card. Which means there's two of them here-- identical, with nothing on them to tell them apart.]
Then you mean this isn't yours?
[There seems to have been a slight misunderstanding here.
Also the key rightly becomes mystery owner's key.]
no subject
Okay.
Of course Duke had to choose this room because now something confounding happened and he understands very little of why there's two room keys with someone else. ]
...No. Although, I suppose there is one way to figure out whose room key it is.
no subject
[Not that he really wants to go door to door testing it, but...]
...would you mind if I joined you?
[He would also like to know who's key got into his room and how.]
no subject
[ Duke doesn't say no because... is he supposed to?? He is not a lawyer, police, or detective. He's never dealt with investigating suspects before (ha ha ha.)
Let's pretend he took the room key thing with him that WASN'T Noe's and he starts with the doors that are open first, going by whoever is closest, etc, etc. ]
...It may be a key left behind by someone who visited you recently.
no subject
From there it's over across to the blue wing. Nepeta's doesn't react either. Onward.
...Shingo's does though.
Green light means g--holy fuck why in the hell is Shingo's room key here?I]
no subject
... I see.
[ AND THAT WILL BE ALL HE SAYS...he's never been the talkative type. It's still surprising, though. ]
