Week 6
Week 6

Monday - Thursday
[ There is a particularly somber atmosphere in the quiet hotel. The day before ended with a terrible miscalculation and an innocent life lost in the name of the “experiment”. Emotions certainly ran high and it would not be strange for those effects to linger into the dawn of the new week. Until now they had successfully determined and executed three other murderers. But the fourth got away. They may not want to face the future yet—but the experiment stops for nothing.
The opening of a new wing would probably be of little solace to them. But it's not long before they are granted a small distraction.
Early Monday morning -- before they’ve even had a chance to properly examine the new floor and it’s rooms -- a text announcement arrives, following a small jingle. The sound is new; different from the announcement tones used during the investigation last week. It’s just as loud and persistent, but there’s an annoying set of four repeated notes in a pattern that lazily imitates a song assigned to this notification.]
Hello participants.
I hope you are doing well this morning and are well rested for the day ahead. There will be a meeting held in the lobby fifteen minutes from now. You will all be required to attend. Any person who is absent will be appropriately hunted down and brought to the meeting place by whatever means necessary. An important change has been made to the experimental proceedings, of which you must all now be made well aware.
See you all in fifteen minutes.

[He steps back when he says it, in order to actually let her in; it's better than standing in the hallway, with one of us just holding...steak.
He'll keep an eye on her, though, making sure she just does what was offered without trying anything. The sitting room upon entry seems pretty put-together, nothing seems off about it - he's got a DVD player that he obtained from somewhere, though, and a set of DVDs sitting on the coffee table, so there's that. No weapons are out anywhere, though, seems those are elsewhere.
He does answer the question, though, he's not going to completely ignore it.]
I've got a pair of guns, though, yeah. I got them after all the shooting started; seemed stupid not to.

I suppose that makes sense, wanting to protect yourself...but can I see-- [No, wait, how's seeing a gun going to help? She knows nothing about guns. Maybe a different approach could be good?]
Can I see one of the bullets for those guns? I don't suspect you of anything, but I know people will suspect you, so I think seeing a bullet may be enough to dispel any suspicion.
[It's likely the guns have different gun caliber and all and she knows it, but a single bullet for one of the guns may be good enough, in her opinion]

[He doesn't see a problem with showing her - he will move to get one of his guns out of his room proper - but it's a decent question, really.
He won't be gone for long, though, and he can hear any response she's going to give him easily enough; it's not like she'll have enough time to go through anything in the room in the time allotted.]

[That and she plans to tell Mikami about the bullet later. Mikami must have seen the bullets the gunner uses, right? Shelley thinks that the gunner's bullets will be well enough to be compared, and she has good enough memory to remember Top Dollar's bullets' general shape and size]
When one's investigating, anything goes! Even the tiniest details can be meaningful.
[That's what Lottie says]

Guns come with five rounds in them. Nothing else.
[And all five seem to have been present in this particular gun when he unloaded it, which is likely telling given that even if he's got two guns, more than five gunshots have occurred in this hotel. Furthermore, the gun seems completely clean as he's working with it - there's no indication that it's been fired at all, much less recently.
But there are five rounds on the table, all of them 9mm.]
Mikami already knows the caliber on my weapons, but you can confirm it for him, why not.

Wow, so this is a bullet...never saw one up close. My experience with guns is limited to toy guns and getting shot, I have never been on the shooting side of the equation.
[Guns aren't exactly abundant in her town, and that's good, actually. Shelley memorizes the general shape of the bullet and makes a wild guess about the caliber. Yeah, she's telling Mikami, just in case]
I think it's confirmed now, you have done nothing wrong. If anyone accuses you I'll be vouching for you.
[It isn't like she can do much, since she can't go snooping around the room, so she guesses she'll be satisfied with what she can get]

[Just...let him reload his gun, though he's not going to be taking it anywhere.]
I liked Kevin a lot, you know? Made him promise me a few times that he wouldn't do anything stupid and end up dead.
I mean, I promised him too, a few times. Plan on sticking to that plan if possible.

[She shakes her head. Kevin was someone she thought would live to the end of this crazy experiment. It's depressing she was wrong]
...there can't be many floors left. Just a few weeks more and this should be over, we'll all be back to our worlds and it'll be like nothing happened.
no subject
[He shrugs a bit, though. Not like he doesn't believe her, but...eh.]
Anything else you wanted to know?
[Last chance to get to ask him for something, Shelley, investigation or otherwise; he's more willing to comply for you, after all.]
no subject
[Shelley peers at him over her glasses. Sheseems pained and a bit frustrated at the same time]
Do you know why you weren't so affected by the poison last week?
[Maybe she's paranoid, but given that she thinks the poisoning was done directly to the bedrooms and Top Dollar's bedroom didn't fit the pattern she noticed about the rest of the non-poisoned people/very poisoned people she has started to fear there's something about Top Dollar that doesn't mesh well]
no subject
...Most I can figure out is Sandra liked me for some reason. Fuck if I know.
no subject
Thanks for letting me take a look around! I don't think anyone will try to look around here again. This should have been enough.
Enjoy the steak!
[Shelley waves without turning around and leaves the room, stopping a few feet away as if she had just thought of something, but then shakes her head and continues walking away]
