Monday - Thursday

[ There is a particularly somber atmosphere in the quiet hotel. The day before ended with a terrible miscalculation and an innocent life lost in the name of the “experiment”. Emotions certainly ran high and it would not be strange for those effects to linger into the dawn of the new week. Until now they had successfully determined and executed three other murderers. But the fourth got away. They may not want to face the future yet—but the experiment stops for nothing. 

The opening of a new wing would probably be of little solace to them. But it's not long before they are granted a small distraction.

Early Monday morning -- before they’ve even had a chance to properly examine the new floor and it’s rooms -- a text announcement arrives, following a small jingle. The sound is new; different from the announcement tones used during the investigation last week. It’s just as loud and persistent, but there’s an annoying set of four repeated notes in a pattern that lazily imitates a song assigned to this notification.]

Hello participants. 

I hope you are doing well this morning and are well rested for the day ahead. There will be a meeting held in the lobby fifteen minutes from now. You will all be required to attend. Any person who is absent will be appropriately hunted down and brought to the meeting place by whatever means necessary. An important change has been made to the experimental proceedings, of which you must all now be made well aware.

See you all in fifteen minutes.

[The lights continue to rearrange themselves, this time into more of an upright "S" shape.]

[...He is definitely not doing that, um. Okay. He'll just leave the controls alone and watch this. Is it trying to spell something out, or...?]

[Now there's a spotlight shaped like a heart.

Which a bunch of spotlights quickly move over to shine an arrow shape through the middle.]

...You're very good at this!

[...OKAY THAT IS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE but also is this a message or is someone just fucking with him, he genuinely can't tell.]

[parasomniacs]

[The lights form a smiley face.]

[scythegun]

[How cute...

Hmm. Well. This is probably going to make him look very stupid, but.]

So, am I talking to someone? Someone who presumably isn't Sheepy?

[parasomniacs]

[The lights kind of screw around badly for a moment, trying to be something before settling on an equilateral triangle.]

[scythegun]

...I'm honestly not sure if that's supposed to be a yes or a no... If you can hear me, will you draw another snake?

[He's assuming that infinity symbol was supposed to be a snake, anyway.]

[parasomniacs]

[No snake. Instead, the lights form a shape that says LT, and then another that says CPT.]

[scythegun]

[Huh, that's interesting... Well, if they can't hear him then maybe they can react to the lights! He'll go ahead and mess around with the controls until he can draw a snake nearby. It's uh, not exactly all that great looking but you know what, he's still learning how to use these things, shush.]

[parasomniacs]

[NOW he gets another snake back. It's the same as the first.

After that, the lights spell out the number 105.]

105... You really do have a great sense of humor, ja?

[If this is Hazama (somehow), then that certainly is a familiar room. Good thing he's got that Permanent Room Card and can get back into it!

But first things first, he'll spell out "THANKS" as quickly as possible.]

[parasomniacs]

[The lights scramble to make this symbol as fast as possible.

And then they say "HI"]

[...wait do you want him to avoid that room???

FINE HE'LL JUST MAKE A GIANT ? because he's very lost right now.]

[parasomniacs]

[Another snake is formed.

And then the lights start blinking on and off in the following pattern:

.--. --- -.-. -.- . - .-- .- - -.-. ....

Followed by a "?"

DO YOU KNOW MORSE, YEAGER?]

[...you know what vesperia never gives me any indication if they have morse BUT I'M GOING TO SAY YES BECAUSE YEAGER SEEMS LIKE THE SORT OF ASSHOLE TO KNOW THIS FOR ~REASONS~

(and also because this makes things easier on all of us)

Let's see, that spells...]

Pocketwatch... Oh!

[He brightens immediately and pulls Hazama's pocketwatch out from inside his jacket, where he's been keeping it. What. It's a nice pocketwatch, shut up. It's absolutely not because his feelings about Hazama are Complicated. Shhhh.

He'll also spell something out in response, then!

[Another smiley face!

"SOL
VE
?" ]

["YES"

...Hmm. Maybe that's not right.

"2/3?"

LOOK HE TRIED BUT HE HASN'T WORKED IT ALL OUT YET.]

Another smiley face.]

...I knew you wouldn't be.

[He's not really sure why that's reassuring or why it gets him to smile when he's still pissed off at Hazama, but he finds himself smiling anyway as he writes out a last message.
