WEEK 7
Week 7

Monday - Thursday
[Despite earnest intentions to the contrary, last week had a business-as-usual murder trial. Well, you may not all act noble, but you'll be treated like royalty on this new floor. ...Except by Sheepy, who is still bugging you when you're awake. The strange distortions appear in the air before she shows up before everyone.]
Goooood morning! Sleep well? We unlocked the 8th floor, so make sure you move in and get cozy! The motive's on the way and it's one of my favorites! Have fun~

monday;
He's sure as shit not going to do it; grieving isn't his thing. At the same time, it's...odd that no one's doing it. People like Sting probably deserve some sort of funeral, anyway. Probably not people like Merciless, but Sting...
So it's...acceptable, in a way, to see that Mikami's in here, and that he's going to be writing something down on that board.]
You didn't strike me as the sort.
[To...be sentimental, maybe; to do something like this.
Either way, he's staying back a bit, away from the altar, away from the board. He's never really been one for doing anything outside of hanging back from the proceedings anyway, observing silence where he thinks it's called for.]

He'll just put down the pen for the moment and give Top Dollar a weary glance. ]
Last week others were still doing it.
[ And then there is also the fact that he didn't care about anyone's death before. He's a criminal prosecutor, murders are part of his daily business and he doesn't go to the funerals of the victims there either, but Sting... unlike any of the other people who died here, Sting was someone he had a bond with, however meager. ]
no subject
[He shrugs a bit.]
I mostly showed up to check on Kevin back then. Kind of a moot point now.
[That's...vaguely off-color but at the very least it's direct.]
You friends with him or what? Sting, I mean.
no subject
... yes. [ Mikami breathes out slowly, headshaking slightly at himself. ]
Though our individual relations to the deceased are similarly 'moot points' now.
no subject
See, there's where I'm gonna have to disagree with you.
[Probably not the expected stance for him to take on that, but there we go.]
no subject
... is that so?
no subject
[He's quiet for a moment before he continues; more trying to figure out what he wants to say than anything. Talking about this sort of thing isn't really his strong suit, so fucking sue him.]
When my guys die back home, that's a fact of life. Something they signed on for when they took up our line of work - no one's gonna give a fuck about any of 'em when they die, because that's just how things go for people like us.
Rightfully so? Probably; I don't really think about it too much.
At the same time, they were mine at some point. I'm not gonna just let shit stand without doing something about it, and if they served me half as well as I wanted them to then I'm not gonna do them the fuckin' disservice of acting like they were never mine to begin with.
no subject
... and then Top Dollar genuinely has a point. Which is unexpected, startling and disgruntling on many levels. ]
Whether or not they were anything to us, they're gone now. I don't see any use trying to obscure this fact by talking pretty.
Eucliffe-san was an ally to me and I won't forget that, but there's nothing we can do for each other any longer.
[ It does not occur to Mikami that this is an ironic thing to say after adding Sting to a memorial... which serves no practical use. ]
no subject
[It isn't really striking him as all that ironic, actually; it's a valid point, in its own way.]
Nothing we do is gonna be for the dead. Shit, I'm not gonna say that when I take care of shit after my guys die that it's for them in anyway. Revenge is for the people who are still alive, it's not like the dead are gonna give a fuck what we do.
Ain't justice like that, too? It's not like the dead are gonna know that you brought down whoever killed 'em.
no subject
[ Just to make this perfectly clear.... he says, before essentially agreeing, because why not lecture a crime lord on justice anyway? ]
...the death penalty is for the living and the executed alike. It's a guaranteed reminder to the world that evil deeds will not go unpunished. It ensures criminal acts will not be rewarded.
There is no way to undo what has been done, but there is also no way for the perpetrator to escape the fact that they did it. Eventually, all will have to be paid.
no subject
Friend, you have no idea how much I hate vigilante infighting. There's a reason my guys come to me to fix their problems.
[That reason being "it leads to pointless death spiral bullshit for the entire group, and that's so fucking boring, Mikami."]
But I get what you're saying. Not something I agree too much with, of course, but I can get where you'd like it so much.
