Friday

Ten participants wake up in the participant staff rooms this morning. It's the first Friday in a while that there isn't a decrease in their numbers - though not without other costs: Two of the hostages have been lost. There's still that last motive hanging over their heads, an unconventional one. Can they handle the challenge?

It's quiet... too quiet...

INTEREST AREA A: MORGUE

[There is a door on the one side to a morgue.]

[anindomitablewill]

[ He'd just gotten up and intended to go down to grab breakfast but when he went into the elevator? It flashed a bunch of the lights and instead of stopping on the floor that he wanted, it went down until it hit a floor below ground level.

So that was a thing.

Sighing, Vanitas picked the first door on the side and opened it wide. He wasn't sure to expect, so if anything about it seemed immediately off, would it be inherently obvious? He wasn't acquainted with morgues that well, after all.. ]

[The morgue is in slight disarray, as though it was emptied in a hurry that Sunday night. The bodies were kept inside coolers, whose resemblance to the capsule hotel would probably make a person feel eerie if they’d ever actually slept in one. The exception, of course, is that the doors have been left open. There’s a strong smell of preservatives that seems to go beyond the usual formalin. There’s also some kind of weird electronic charger shoved way in the back… what was that for?]

[ While his knowledge of technology was next to none? Some things just looked more curious than others, honestly.

He did take note of the subtle disarray, and while he was tempted to see if there was anything left inside the coolers right now, the electronic charger shoved in the back was what he went to focus on. If only to see what on earth it was for and why it was there to start with. ]

[parasomniacs]

[When he picks it up to look, there is blood on the charger, distributed as if it was jammed into the vulnerable flesh of a person.]

[anindomitablewill]

[ W e l l. Isn't that interesting?

Turning it over in his hands, he tried to find out if it was attached to anything or if it was just shoved back here just because of what it was likely used for. He'd bet someone was injured pretty good with it, but that didn't explain why it was back here. ]

[parasomniacs]

[It is not attached to anything. It ends in a black box so it appears the box itself is what transmits the electricity into the object being charged.]

[anindomitablewill]

[ A black box? He gingerly moves to inspect it before straightening up, because if this is something he can submit for any kind of evidence, he'll do it. Does it look like it belongs to anything in this room at all...?

There's gotta be something else off in this room, or so he's honestly hoping. ]

[parasomniacs]

[It doesn't fit. The charger is something that could be carried around easily.]

[anindomitablewill]

[ Oh good. He'll hold onto it carefully with one hand as to not smudge the blood that's on it but taking a step back, noting that Yukino was still here but he'll kind of walk around the room and peeking under and around everything he can to see if there's anything of notable interest left in this room here.

Can't leave it until it's been fully checked out to make sure there wasn't anything he was missing. ]

[spatial]

[ What's dealing with more dead bodies, right? Yukino follows Vanitas into the morgue, a fair bit of space between them because she doesn't know how he feels about, well, all of this, so it's just safer to give them both space. That means she's on the opposite side of the room, checking out the coolers on that side. ]

[parasomniacs]

[The coolers are empty. There is no prominent manufacturer's name on the edge of the product.]

[ Um. Well, she'll check out the rest of the room then...? Is there anything nearby that's of interest? ]

[parasomniacs]

[When she looks behind the coolers, she will see Sandra's hat fell down behind one of them, like they tried to lower her down into the cooler but her hat didn't fit and just got knocked away.]

NO WHY WOULD YOU

[spatial]

[ Hopefully, Vanitas doesn't notice the startled noise she makes when she finds the hat. It's very obviously Sandra's and - Yukino doesn't know... doesn't know what to think. She's still so conflicted over this woman, but more and more she sympathizes.

She picks up the hat carefully, holding back the urge to dust it off. After all, the state of the hat could provide some clues. ]

Oh, Lady Sandra... [ :'( ]

[The outside is covered in dust consistent with lying here undisturbed for several weeks. The inside has no mark though and the fabric itself is smooth, unfolded, besides the way that it crumpled with the limited space in the crevice behind the cooler; the hat was kept in good condition by its owner.]
